But new runners might not realize that if their shoe doesn't fit or provide the right support, it could hurt their feet, knees and hips in the long run.
Local sock and shoe retailers said people often buy the wrong kind of shoe or wrong size, which can literally throw their bodies off balance and cause foot problems down the road.
